Grand Detour is a treat. We had a great river front campsite with a great view, and took our kayak from oregon right to our campsite. Try the Colonial Rose Inn for a great meal.

We tried this campground last fall, and the colors were stunning. The river is just beautiful, and the place was very quiet where we did not have another camper near our tent. We want to try it this spring but this is a hidden gem for tent campers who want to get away. It does not feel like Illinois, only downside is that they do not have showers.

We love the campground, but the colonial rose made our weekend while camping on the islands. I hope it will reopen.
