The Mt Carroll Farmers Market downtown from 8 am-noon every Saturday May through October. The Market will feature locally grown specialty crops as well as goods contributed by bakers, crafters, and artisans. A special highlight will be Learn Great Foods Cooking Demonstrations at 10:00 am held indoors at the Market Street Commons, located at the corner of Market and Main Street in downtown Mt Carroll. Attendees will receive a free Learn Great Foods book specific to the day's cooking lesson which includes health information and recipes. Also new to the 2011 Farmers Market is the "Make & Take" program for children. Each session will be based on Illinois Ag Mag magazines donated by the Carroll County Farm Bureau where children will create and take home a craft or activity related to knowledge about local specialty crops. There is no charge for participants. The "Ag in the Classroom" program is offered through the University of Illinois Extension in partnership with the Carroll County Farm Bureau, Ogle County Farm Bureau, Carroll County and Ogle County Soil & Water Conservation Districts.
