Ozzy's offers the best food along the Mississippi River in Iowa/Illinois. Four of us were ready for lunch along the Great River Road and crossed the river from Sabula, IA to Savanna, IL. We asked a couple locals for a recommendation, and they sent us to Ozzy's. The establishment looks like a small-town bar, but the owners assured me that "we don't serve alcohol, we serve food!" As it turns out, they relocated from Chicago, found affordable rent at a former bar, and opened a diner serving a home-cooked menu. We ordered burgers with mushrooms and bacon, root beer floats (they included the whole can of root beer), with sides of fries and onion rings. The entire meal for four cost just $10 apiece. It was the biggest bargain and the best food I've encountered in a very long time. Highly recommended to adventuresome travelers who enjoy hometown conversation and local food. Food Network alert!
